1. My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002)
Here Comes the Bride: Nia Vardalos as Toula Portokalos
Behind the Scenes: Costume designer Michael Clancy
Toula is getting married to the WASP of her traditional Greek parents' nightmares, and although she thinks her dress makes her look like a "snow beast," we dig her huge poufy dress, massive veil, and tiny waist. Her new hubby, played by John Corbett, compares it to a "big festive cupcake," and we like those too.
2. The Princess Bride (1987)
Here Comes the Bride: Robin Wright Penn as Buttercup/The Princess Bride
Behind the Scenes: Costume designer Phyllis Dalton
Buttercup's dress is fit for a princess in this endlessly quoted romance. Her Renaissance-inspired gown with its empire waist and detailed beading (not to mention the giant crown) is fairy-tale perfect.
3. The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement (2004)
Here Comes the Bride: Anne Hathaway as Mia Thermopolis
Behind the Scenes: Costume designer Gary Jones
This veddy tasteful gown boasts a fabulous train, besides its glam off-the-shoulder neckline. Of course, yards and yards of tulle don't always stop a gal from running the wrong way down the aisle…
4. Enchanted (2007)
Here Comes the Bride: Amy Adams as Giselle
Behind the Scenes: Costume designer Mona May
Giselle's wedding dress gets quite a workout when she ends up in Manhattan by accident. With billowing sleeves, a deep v-neckline, and tons of tulle and fabric, we aren't quite sure how she manages to sing, dance, and clean the apartment while remaining ready for her prince to come. But that's why it's Disney!
5. Made of Honor (2008)
Here Comes the Bride: Michelle Monaghan as Hannah
Behind the Scenes: Costume designer Penny Rose
The slinky satin number Hannah wears at the end is simple and flattering, especially in comparison to the one she'd been wearing earlier in the movie. Two words: plaid sash.
6. Mamma Mia! (2008)
Here Comes the Bride: Amanda Seyfried as Sophie Sheridan
Behind the Scenes: Costume designer Ann Roth
Sophie's ethereal dress is perfect for the stunning Greek island she lives on, and it looks so flattering (and comfy!) that brides-to-be online are demanding to know more about how to recreate the look. No wonder that designer Ann Roth has won an Oscar for her creations.
7. Runaway Bride (1999)
Here Comes the Bride: Julia Roberts as Maggie Carpenter
Behind the Scenes: Albert Wolsky -- well, sort of.
Wolsky designed four out of the five dresses in this movie, since we know she sure was a bride on the go. This dress, however, was the only one he didn't design -- he literally picked it off of a rack at Saks Fifth Avenue. It's elegant but still flexible enough to wear while riding off into the sunset with your beau. On a horse.
8. Sex and the City: The Movie (2008)
Here Comes the Bride: Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw
Behind the Scenes: Vivienne Westwood
How could Carrie Bradshaw wearing a gorgeous Vivienne Westwood gown not make the list? Despite what happened before she got to the altar, at least she looked fabulous almost getting there! Only a fashionista like Carrie could pull off a corset and tons of taffeta topped off by that feathered hairpiece. Well, SATC stylist Patricia Field could.
9. Funny Face (1957)
Here Comes the Bride: Audrey Hepburn as Jo Stockton
Behind the Scenes: Givenchy
Givenchy's muse Audrey Hepburn wore his fabulous creations in real life as well as in films like Funny Face and Sabrina, and although Funny Face's Oscar for costume design went to Edith Head, Givenchy is credited for her wardrobe in the Paris parts of the movie. Her wedding dress's bell-shaped skirt and elegant '50s lines is quintessential Hepburn and Givenchy.
10. The Duchess (2008)
Here Comes the Bride: Keira Knightley as Georgiana, The Duchess of Devonshire
Behind the Scenes: Costume designer Michael O'Connor
The insane historical detail that went into the 18th century costumes for The Duchess is most evident in Georgiana's wedding dress. The bodice, the yards of silk, the handkerchief sleeves, the giant bustle, and those diamonds on her demurely corseted stomach make this our favorite by far.
